Spanish is taught to all pupils from Year 3 to Year 6 at Trinity Primary School. Languages are and remain at the centre of our school due to the range of languages being spoken by our children.
At Trinity, we want every child to have HEART. Through our languages curriculum, we aim to engage and enthuse our pupils, encouraging ambitious learners who are confident to take risks and strive for improvement in all that they do. We believe that the learning of a language provides an important part of the valuable educational, social and cultural experience for our pupils. This encourages them to understand their own cultures and those of others, fostering a better understanding and respect of other religions and cultures. It helps them to develop communication skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing, with an aim of making substantial progress in one language.
In addition, children’s knowledge of how language works will be developed to lay the foundations for further language learning in future. Children are provided with learning opportunities which will be memorable and useful for the rest of their lives as we believe that learning another language gives children a new and broader perspective on the world.
