Families with a child or young person with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are invited to take part in the first Herefordshire 'Visible and Valued SEND Celebration Week' from Thursday 22 to Wednesday 28 May 2025. The new event is led by Herefordshire Council in partnership with local organisations and aims to ensure that SEND families feel visible and valued in their local community. Throughout the week a wide range of fun activities will be on offer to children and young people with SEND and their families (including siblings) and carers. Many of the events will be free of charge or offered at a reduced price to help families access as many sessions as possible. Families will be able to try out new experiences in a supportive and inclusive environment. Some of the activities must be pre-booked and all sessions are offered on a first come, first served basis. Activities include stay and play sessions, a family farm day, a range of SEND sessions at Halo leisure centres, sensory room sessions and drop-in opportunities with a range of professionals and practitioners, including health, social care and education. For a full list of the activities and resources available during the 'Visible and Valued SEND Celebration Week' visit the council's Talk Community website. Information will also be shared on the SEND Local Offer Facebook page.
