SEND Parent Support
Working together to support your child
At Trinity Primary School, we recognise that supporting a child with additional needs is a partnership between home, school and, where appropriate, other professionals. We want parents and carers to feel listened to, informed and confident in knowing how we can work together to support your child.
At Trinity we are available to offer advice, guidance and support throughout your child’s time at school. We also provide opportunities for parents and carers to develop their understanding of different areas of SEND and share strategies that may be helpful at home and in school.
Support we offer to parents and carers
SEND advice and support
Class Teachers and our SENCo are available to talk with parents and carers about their child’s needs, progress and support in school. We can help you to understand the SEND process, discuss concerns and identify appropriate next steps.
SEND Parent Meetings
We provide regular opportunities for parents and carers of children receiving SEND support to meet with school staff. These meetings provide an opportunity to review progress, discuss your child’s Individual Support Plan and agree targets and provision for the next term.
Parent information sessions
Throughout the year, we offer informal information sessions focused on areas that may be helpful to parents and carers. These sessions provide an opportunity to learn more about different aspects of SEND, explore referral routes for potential diagnosis, ask questions and share experiences with other families.
Our sessions include:
- Autism (ASC) – understanding autism, recognising strengths and differences, and exploring practical strategies that can support children at home and in school.
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) – developing an understanding of ADHD and exploring practical approaches to support attention, emotional regulation, organisation and behaviour. (Please see below for upcoming dates)
Coffee Mornings
Termly coffee mornings are offered and provide an opportunity to:
- ☕ Meet other parents and carers and share experiences, ideas and helpful strategies.
- 💬 Ask questions and discuss any concerns you may have about your child’s needs or support.
- 📚 Find out more about SEND support available in school and how we can work together to support your child.
- 💷 Receive information and signposting about financial and funding support that may be available to families.
- 📍 Find out about services and support available across Herefordshire, including local organisations, parent support groups and other services.
- 🤝 Share ideas and experiences in a supportive and welcoming environment.
- ❓ Ask questions of members of our SENCo and find out more about the support available.
You do not need to have a specific concern or question to attend. Come along for a coffee, a chat and the opportunity to connect with other parents. Refreshments will be provided, and everyone is welcome.
Dates for upcoming SEND Coffee Mornings will be shared with parents through our usual school communication channels.
Signposting to further support
Where appropriate, we can help families to identify and access additional sources of support, advice and information from external agencies and local services. Working together with families
We value the knowledge and experience that parents and carers have about their child. We aim to maintain open communication and work collaboratively with families to understand what helps their child to feel safe, included and successful in school.

If you have a concern about your child or would like to discuss their SEND needs, please speak to your child’s class teacher or contact Kim Goddard, our SENCO on kgoddard@trinity.hereford.sch.uk / 01432 266268. You do not need to wait for a formal meeting to raise a concern.
